BTBW has not yet published a genuine contribution. This policy is ready for the first public informational launch and will apply to future archive items when contribution and editorial services are separately approved and opened.
Who can contact us
Contributors, people identified in material, rights holders, authorised representatives, and anyone reporting a credible privacy, legal, factual, or safety concern may ask us to review an item. We ask only for evidence reasonably needed to understand the request and the requester’s authority.
Requests we handle
- Correction: a factual, transcription, translation, attribution, date, location, or metadata change.
- Restriction: limiting public or staff access while preserving a controlled record.
- Takedown: removing public access while rights, safety, legality, or authority is assessed.
- Withdrawal: stopping consent-based publication or applying an agreed contributor withdrawal right.
- Data-protection request or complaint: a request about personal information, handled under statutory rules as well as archive review.
How to make a request
Email btbw@vauwr.com with the item or page, the action requested, the reason, your relationship to the material, and any immediate safety concern. Please do not send unnecessary identity documents or sensitive evidence in your first email. You may also write to BTBW, VAUWRBOOKS LTD, 39A York Street, Twickenham, TW1 3LP, United Kingdom.
What happens next
- We record and acknowledge the request.
- We apply a temporary restriction first where credible harm could continue.
- We keep requester contact and identity evidence separate from the public record.
- We review provenance, versions, permissions, affected people, and the legal basis.
- We decide whether to correct, add context, create a new revision, redact, restrict, withdraw, delete, or decline the request, and record why.
- We tell the requester the outcome and available escalation route without exposing another person’s restricted information.
- Where required, we propagate the outcome to derivatives, search, downloads, exhibitions, exports, backups, and service providers.
Data-protection complaints are acknowledged within 30 days and answered without undue delay. Credible immediate danger should be reported to the appropriate emergency service; BTBW is not an emergency service.
Accountable change
An ordinary correction may create a new version and concise public correction note. Earlier versions may be held under restricted access for accountability, but inaccurate, unlawful, unsafe, or consent-withdrawn material is not kept public merely for archival neatness. Applicable law and protection from harm take priority.
